Erica's Travels
After four nights in Kanchanaburi we decided to head south.
Got a motorcycle taxi to the bus station...and when I say motorbike taxi I mean a motorbike with a steel frame for a seating area fitted on the side...interesting!
Got the bus to Ratburi which was just over two hours south and then quickly jumped onto another bus to Hua Hin,...well thats what we were told anyway.
Bus actually stopped at Phetburi and everyone disappeared..hmmm so where is the bus to Hua Hin. Anyway after a few difficult conversations with the locals we soon realised we had to walk a bit further to get to another place where we could get a bus further south..interesting being dumped somewhere and not knowing where to go or what to do.
So we walked a bit further and found a stopping area where a bus could take us all the way to Chumphon.
We arrived in Chumpon at 8pm and got dropped off at the bus station. the city of Chumpon was still 10k away so we got a taxi...well if thats what u want to call it. We might as well of hitch hiked as we got in the back of a van and paid a small amount to be dropped off at a guesthouse.
Anway we arrived so can't be all bad.
So overall it cost us 320 baht each which is about 5 pounds. but the overall journey took about 9 hours so not bad overall...I think. But hey!
Today we are going to research some diving centres on Koh Tao island as that is were we will head tomorrow. I am hoping for a nice paradise beach where I can relax and swim....so watch this space!
We are currently paying 200 baht for a room at the moment which is about 2.50...so can't be bad. However its not always quiet, and the beds aren't always comfortable so sleep for me is on a limited basis....waking a 3am and then having bits of sleep until around 6am..so feeling very tired at the moment.
Its funny I even manage to wake up before most of the places open here...nothing changes really!
My only complaint is once again getting a glass of wine at a reasonable price is a nightmare...hello did they not know I was coming or what!
I did manage to try the local wine, which is like a half bottle and its sort of sweetish but nice and cheap!..50 baht and was sufficient. However here a glass is 100 baht which I refuse to pay..so looks like I will have to keep looking around.
Looking forward to Oz so I can go on a wine tasting tour...hee hee watch out oz!
Right so whats next. After Koh Tao, we will then go to Ko Pha Ngan island, then Ko Samui island so the pictures should be like paradise...haa haa
Anyway bye for now
Erica and Jason (who is asleep right now)...humf
