Left Granada airport in bright sunshine ....arrived after 2 smooth flights including a quick transfer in El Salvador, to Guatemala to find our luggage hadn't gone on first flight but was still in Managua!  We were assured our luggage would be taxied to our hotel in Antigua  in the evening.

We took a  private shuttle arranged by our hotel for the one hour trip to Antigua and immediately noted the lower temperature the city being 1500m above sea level.

Heading out in the darkly lit streets shivering in our shorts and t-shirts, we found a nearby restaurant where we enjoyed a nice pizza but only realized  halfway through that the restaurant, which was very dimly lit, was partly open air so we shivered away thinking our luggage would be with us soon. Alas no.....it arrived at midnight!   We were so pleased to have it back despite being woken in the middle of the night.

We hoped for a better day, the next day.
