Emily's Trip
i told you i'd update you after the abseil!... so here goes
well: i did it!!!
i was picked up at 2 o'clock by a very nice guy called sheldon who i found out had actually lived in balham for 2 years... can you believe it no-one who doesnt live in balham knows it practically!!! although he couldnt remember the name of the street it sounded from directions and descriptions that it may well have been elmbourne (right next to ours!)... freaky!
well it was just me doing it which was a bit of a relief as it was less embarrassing lol. it was about a 15 min drive to robberg peninsula where we were going to be going down. the views (as per usual in africa) were breathtaking... its impossible for me to describe them but i took lots of pics which when i get the chance i will post on here! lets just leave you with the image of blue seas and sky's, dramatic waves on one side and deadly calm on the other, green hills on rocky edges and golden beaches!!! sound pretty amazing??? well it was!
we walked down to this ledge which when looking out didnt look that high at all but then you look down and see that you cant actually see that much of the wall and it becomes slightly more freaky lol!
i was harnessed up in what looked like a puny harness and then given a white builders helmet and two massive gloves! i was hooked up at the front with a figure of 8... the whole contraption to me seemed very dodgy!
i got slight flashbacks when i was told to walk over to the edge, put heels over (this time i was holding on to a rope granted), lean back, lean back more, get to like past 90 degrees, and jump! (or walk)... bloody hell: heart in mouth again!
