My last day in Chaing Mai was busy busy. Eva and I started the day with a thai cooking class. We were joined by about 20 other travelers from all over the world. I even met some girls from Ireland who were fascinated that my last name is Monahan and were even more astonished that I've never been there... Looks like I have my next travel idea (Christmas time mom and dad?)! At the class, I learned how to cook; spicy chicken soup, green curry paste, and pad thai noodles. I don't consider myself a great cook, but this was a fantastic meal! They gave us a cook book to take home with us! I plan on trying to cook some of these meals at home, however, finding many of the ingredients might be a challenge.
After the cooking course, I ventured out to tiger temple to play with the tigers. You have the option of which tigers you'd like to interact with, and I chose the smallest and the biggest. Although this is a bit more tourist of an adventure than I would've liked, these creatures are absolutely incredible. Beautiful, powerful, and majestic. I'm not going to lie, I was very scared in the big tigers area. One of the males, 600+ pounds, was really wound up and running around. Usually they are pretty docile and lazy, but this one was not! The babies, of course, were adorable. One even climbed on my lap and let me rub her belly!
I ended the night by meeting up with Eva and while waiting she was finishing her tea, we met an English boy, Josh, who had just arrived and invited him to join us for the evening since he was traveling solo as well. We went back to the night bizaar market, did some souvenir shopping, grabbed dinner, got henna tattoos (sorry those of you I tricked on snap chat, it's not real), and went to a Cabaret show. The Cabaret shows here in Thailand are basically lady boys dancing in vegas show girl like outfits and lip singing songs (see photos). It was hilarious and a great way to end my stay in Chiang Mai.
I leave today for Bangkok to meet up with my tour group where we will make our way from there down to Singapore. I wish I had more time in Chiang Mai, I didn't even scratch the surface on all there is to see here! It is quite a beautiful city.
My access to wifi may be a lot less and I will be on the move a lot more once this tour begins! I'll do my best to keep up with this! I hope everything is well at home! Miss you all a lot.
