Ended up getting the bus to Hanoi from Vientiane - it took nearly 30 hours in total (I've could've flown home twice and then some!) it wasnt actually as bad as what I thought it would be. Hanoi is a crazy city, so much going on. The traffic is mental - they dont really have signals or lights and you risk your life just trying to cross the street! Kayaked down to Vientiane from Vang Vieng - Don't worry I havent turned into one of those strange sporty/outdoorsy types, just thought it would be more exciting than a bus for 5 hours!
