1th & 20th June 2008: From Caye Caulker we've headed to central Belize, to a jungle lodge called Trek Stop. We're staying in little wooden huts surrounded by beautiful woods filled with all sorts of bugs and birds. Took a short walk into the nearby village of San Ignacio to stock up on skittles (of which there are four different varieties no less!) and treat ourselves to an ice cream too. We have outdoor showers and composting toilets which are suprisingly usable! Had a lovely meal in the evening before holding a tarantula!! Actually managed without screaming and throwing it across the room!
Decided to go horse riding the next day as I've been missing horses like mad! My horse was called Dutch, a very handsome quarter horse cross thoroughbred, who liked going very fast indeed! As did all of the other horses....we saw some amazing scenery in between all the galloping! In the afternoon we went tubing down the river, which was very relaxing in parts and zipping down rapids in other places! Have loved staying here, but onto Guatemala next!
