After rafting, drove to the Terai region and Chitwan national park. Very different to the mountains we had been used to, lots of fields and stupidly humid (we were recommended to drink 4 litres of water a day). On arriving we had another well needed shower (washing whilst rafting was a dip in the river en route and baby wipes) and unpacked for 2 whole days in the same place!!! We were introduced to our guide who I am convinced looked like a Nepalese version of Michal Buble (well a tiny bit, if you closed one eye and squinted!) funny, but no one else could see the resemblance, perhaps I've been single too long!!!!!) First trip was an Ox ride to a traditional Tharu village (one of our Oxen was so fat I thought it was pregnant, until told it was a boy, so he was just fat, seemed quite happy though and the owner clearly adored his beasts!). During the village visit we were shown the fields where they grow all sorts of produce such a rice, maize, etc, there is also an abundance of marijuana just growing along the roadside and in the village!! More goats greeted us (Jo, Rachel, Anya and I have decided to set up a website called Rate my Goat.com as a tribute to the 1000's of goats we have encountered and taken pictures of....they are everywhere, including the tops of buses, which we witnessed on our trip to Bhandiphur) The stand out goat here was the one whom the guide fed weed to, to be honest I think he'd already had a fair amount, looked a bit spaced (goat not guide) Also saw a cat which is a rare sight in Nepal and narrowly missed someone killing a chicken, which some of the group did see along with one if the village children who proceeded to break down in tears. We were also shown inside one if the houses which although very dark, was quite spacious and had a TV (and no doubt satellite, as most do!) Back at the hotel we were invited to watch a cultural stick dance (as you would imagine, people dancing with sticks) and finished the evening with a cocktail, before going to bed (following a full check of the room for snakes, which some, we were informed by Ram, are deadly)
