Yesterday we left Nelson and headed for Nelson Lakes National Park where we had lunch and a swim in the glacier lake surrounded by beech forests and mountains. Here is discovered that ducks can be as bad as seagulls when
I had my whole sandwich stolen from my hand and devoured in about 2 seconds by a hoard of ducks!! We stopped in a place called Murchison for some famous New Zealand hokey pokey ice cream before driving down the Buller Gorge, an incredibly beautiful scenic drive. I then went for a ride around the Buller Gorge area, the scenery was s bit better than the hacks I'm used to and we went for a swim in the river. However it was a bit disappointing because we were told we could do lots of trotting and cantering but only got about 2mins as one of the guides had to go back because she forgot her hat! That night we stayed in the mining town of Westport and went on a 3-legged pub crawl to get to know all the new people on the bus.

Phjilip & Sheila Hi Emma It sounds like your having a whale of a time, we are very envious back here in snowy Southern England, still you enjoy your self to the full. Lots of love from P&S
Michelle Weir How was the mood at Westport?? Felt sorry for you having to go that way after the Pike River disaster :(
Emma The day we went was even more sad because they had the service. We pulled over for a 2mins silence at 2. Was really nice though because when we were in one of the pubs and old couple came up t us and said it cheered them Up to see us having fun. Xxx
