Emma's Travels
Yesterday we continued down the west coast towards Franz Josef. On the way we stopped at the Bushman's centre where we learnt about how people make a living on the coast through deer. We arrived in Franz Josef, a glacier village at about lunch time. In the afternoon I went kayaking on lake Mapourika which was fantastic. The lake is surrounded by both mountains and rainforest, a very strange and unique combination. The scenery was stunning and it was generally a very peaceful experience.
Today I went for an 8hr hike up the Franz Josef glacier which was certainly a unique experience. We climbed through ice caves and cracks and just generally explored the glacier. That evening we relaxed in the hot tub at the hostel before going to the bar.

Nan & Gdad Another fantastic trip. At least it has stopped snowing here and snow we had has mostly melted. Off to a celebration lunch now. Love from us both. xxx
Frank & Val we are looking forward to reading the biography after following all the snippets !!. we had our own "ice" experience, went to visit the far flung southern relatives, from sunny east anglia to the frozen southampton. we survived well and great to see everyone. There can't be much of NZ left for you to visit but keep having a great time and look forward to the next episode..luv xx
