Saturday 26th October
It's so hard to try to keep a blog with how busy we are but I want to make sure I keep it up before I forget anything!
So koh Phangan was amazing. I'd already wrote about the full moon party in my last post so will write about everything from there...We ended up staying another night in Ko Phangan as originally planned- with the full moon party being on we'd left it a little too late to book the ferry to ko Tao. In a way it worked out much better as we did our elephant trip! The trip included going on a boat and having the option to go snorkelling (Lauren and I opted out!), lunch, visiting a temple (was only 35 years old so nothing too historical). Then we went to see a waterfall which had no water lol that was quite disappointing as I was hoping to get lots of cool photos but never mind! Then we went on our elephant ride which was cool- when we arrived there was a little monkey (like the one on the hangover!) which was chained up :-( it did make me feel sad but then again I guess he wouldn't know any different! The elephant ride itself only lasted around 20 mins- walked through a bit of the jungle and also through the lake which was scary! I did enjoy it and I'm glad to say I've ticked it off my bucket list! He he!
After that we went Kayaking which I never thought I'd do but I did! It was 2 in a canoe so I went with lee- we came 3rd which was pretty good going! It was basically from the beach to another little island where we stopped off for 20 mins and then headed back. I'm glad we did the trip as it's something we all enjoyed and wanted to do.
So we arrived in Ko Tao on Tuesday 22nd- we had to get the ferry there which wasn't too bad to be fair. I was excited about Ko Tao the most as I'd heard such great things about it. We'd already booked our accommodation (Aisa divers resort) so it was nice knowing we didn't have to search around for somewhere to stay after all being tried! The hotel was ok- a lot more basic to what we'd been used to- we had been spoilt with the first 2 hotels in all fairness! The first night we headed out as soon as we got there really for food and we'd found out there was a "castle party" the next evening (Wednesday) which was the full moon after party. So we all agreed to do that.
The weather has still been very hit and miss. We've been very lucky work the fact that every day it's rained is the day where we are travelling- then we don't mind! :-) so the castle party was fun- we got to the club and it was silent and in complete darkness- only to find they'd had a power cut! It was an experience being guided into a club with candles! People were singing, making their own music! It was fun for all of 5 minutes it lasted.
The hotel had a nice pool so the next day I decided to sit by there. It was only a small pool but it was mainly took over by the divers practicing which was a little annoying!
On the evening I decided I wanted to watch the sun set as Martha had told me it was an amazing experience and wow it was! We went and sat at this bar where they have mats on the floor so you can have a drink and watch the sunset go down in style! I went a little crazy with the photos but couldn't resist it! Was such an amazing experience!
Another thing which has been a grey expedients is the street food! Again lots of people had told me that was the best food in Thailand but I sort of had to try it for myself to believe it! The food was so fresh! We had chicken skewers, corn on the cob, and Lauren and I found a delicious wrap stand which I'd go as far as saying it was the best wrap I'd ever tasted in my life! :-D they also did pancakes with Nutella which I always had to have!
We were planning on leaving Ko Tao on Friday 25th and head to Bangkok but because of various things such as the weather not being great we felt as if we hadn't seen much of the island and considering it's meant to be one of the prettiest ones we decided to stay for another night. The hotel we were in let us stay there for another night which was good.
During the day we decided to explore and get a taxi boat to another part of the island (Nangyuan resort) which was absolutely beautiful. It was definitely worth us doing! We had a little walk around and then had a drink in the bar followed by sunbathing for an hour while we waited for our taxi boat to arrive!
Our last night we went for a nice meal in a restaurant this time! And then a few drinks in our favourite beach bar. They always had such a great atmosphere there- music playing and fire entertainers which were amazing to watch!
I am now on the coach to Bangkok. To be fair it's not been as bad as I thought it would be. This morning was terrible- I was so tired anyway (Jamie did keep telling me to go to bed but after a couple of Changs there's no shutting me up! Ha) and I also felt slightly fragile. Getting to the boat I saw some guy throwing up over the side and because I felt ill anyway it set me off! On the boat I threw up and then I felt fine. Typical of me to have a hangover on such a long journey! The coach was split so after 4 hours we stopped off for food at what I guess you'd call a service station?! It's 7.20pm now, only one hour left until we arrive in Bangkok. I am excited but also don't know what to expect. We have booked a hostel (mixed room dormitory) which should be...interesting. All those who know me well will be reading this at home now thinking they can't believe me of all people are stopping in a hostel! Lol. It's cheap and the hotel Christie recommended to us was booked up tonight so we are just going to book there the rest of the nights as at least we know it's nice!
I will try to write more tomorrow about my experience of Bangkok.
Love and miss you all lots xxxxx
