26th feb- Cairns

We arrived in cairns this morning at 6am after doing our last and final ever greyhound bus (horahhh!)

We couldn't check in until 7am so we waited around the hostel until then- we were hoping our rooms might be ready if no one was in there the night before but unfortunately there was :(

So Kathryn gave us some information on things to do in cairns (seeing as they lived there for a good part of a year) one of the things she suggested was the sky rail over the rainforest in cairns. As we had time to kill before we could get to our room we decided to do that :) before hand though we went and got a maccies breakfast which just wasn't the same as home (the sausage actually tasted like sausage for a start!). The sky rail was pretty cool we got to go right over the rainforest and waterfalls! After that we went back into cairns centre and finally had a nandos which again- like the McDonald's- wasn't as nice as home!

We then went back to the hostel and had a nap before going out for a meal. Kathryn recommended a nice Italian but we got there at 8.30 and the kitchen had closed. That's the only thing I didn't like about the east coast- everywhere shut really early for food which I found ridiculous as it's one of the main routes people do to travel Oz! But anyway we managed to find somewhere which was still nice- we both had pasta :-) after dinner we went for a walk along the lagoon which was all lit up :) it's really started to sink in we will be home soon :( I will miss Australia so much. Am looking forward to going back to Sydney one last time though! :-) x
