Saturday 15th February
Today we went to the famous Steve Irwin zoo! It was so much fun!
We got there at 9.30am (again had to go on the greyhound bus!) and we couldn't believe how big the zoo was! I was so excited to hold a koala bear! I was like a child lol. It was incredible the way they had lizards just walking around the zoo on their own! We saw all the lizards first, then otters, then tortoise. They were huge! We walked around to the koala part too and could just see them all sat there hugging the trees! So cute! :-)
There were allocated times you could hold the koala bear and we went to the 11:30 one. We were one of the first in the queue too! Jamie went first- he got to hold him for ages as the photographer and zoo keeper were talking so Jamie got an extra long hug! Then I was next. I was so excited! I had to hold him like a baby; 2 hands on his bottom then you had to move the other hand onto his back. It took me ages to do that as I thought I was going to drop him! Then he started hugging me- ahhh was so cute! Although his claws hurt at one point! Then as he was coming off me he pooed on my hand! Lol lovely! I was so happy to have held one though! Jamie and I had our own professional pictures then one of us both with him on my camera.
Straight after that we went to the crocodile show. We thought it would just be the crocs but it wasn't- at the start they had birds all flying around which was just incredible I watch- so amazing to think every single bird had been trained to do all these amazing tricks! After that they brought out the crocodile! It was exactly like what Steve Irwin used to do- teasing them with food and they got so close! Absolutely amazing!
After that we when to the kangaroo part which was also amazing! They were just sitting around where we were walking and we even managed to stroke them and have pictures right next to them! So cool! We even saw one hopping along which was funny!
The were so many incredible animals at the zoo! There was an Africa part too which had zebras, giraffes, camels etc.
Once we were home I was so shattered! We had another 1 hour nap, got ready and went out. Noosa is really lovely for things to do on the evenings- lots of places to chose to eat! We went to this gorgeous Italian where everything was organic and home made. Jamie and I had a soup to start and I've never tasted anything so lovely! Then he had spag bol and I had gnocchi which was a cross between pasta and potato and it was absolutely gorgeous! :-)
Tomorrow we are heading back on the greyhound (HATE it!) and to rainbow beach where we stay for one night then head to Fraser Island then back to rainbow beach again! Xx
