My final day in Asia and I was so sad to be leaving. I had breakfast and sunbathed all day with Shannon and Caroline, two girls who I'd been with for the past few days who were staying in my dorm at Blue Corner. The weather was perfect and this was the hottest day I'd had in Nusa since arriving.
I got chatting to a guy named David and we found out that he had heard all about me before I'd arrived on the island and it was only once he added me on Facebook that we knew this! Basically, Naomi's really good friend from home - Brad - had coincidentally planned to do almost exactly the same trip as me just a few weeks behind me, starting in India and then to South East Asia, then to Indonesia etc. Brad had added me on Facebook months ago and we agreed we would definitely try to meet up on our travels no matter what. The entireeeee way I have been a step ahead of him and we have missed each other - so typical and so funny. Brad is the person who told me to go to Nusa Lembongan and he had literally left on a boat 5 minutes before I'd arrived! He said he told the people at Blue Corner to look out for me and unknowingly I made friends with David who happened to be one of those people. It really is such a small world. I've now found out Brad is also doing South America at the same time as me so hopefully I'll be able to finally meet him there.
After saying my goodbyes to everyone and the wonderful island I'd become so fond of, I stood on the street waiting for my prearranged speed boat transfer to arrive. After 20 minutes of waiting with no sign of anyone to pick me up I decided to phone the boat office as I was supposed to be leaving for Bali in the 10 minutes following. Of course they had completely forgotten to pick me up and sent a guy on a moped to collect me - which my huge backpack - and rush me to the boat before it departed. The guy at the office looked very apologetic and said to me "sometimes we are humans", which I could only take to mean that he was only human and sometimes makes mistakes, to which I told him not to worry as I'd spent 3 months in Asia now and am no longer surprised by these minor mishaps (I wouldn't have been so nice if I hadn't made it on time!).
I arrived at Bali Denpasar Airport and felt so saddened to be leaving. It all felt very surreal and I had such a long journey ahead of me - that I was kinda looking forward to on the pretence of doing absolutely nothing for a day. I bumped into Janet at the airport, a lovely Dutch girl I had met in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and it was so nice to see her and quickly catch up; it really really is suchhhh a small world. On board the plane realisation set in that my first stop was Singapore but my second stop was London where I would briefly get to see my family and be reunited with Liv, making it impossible for me not to sit there bursting with excitement for the next part of my travels; South America I'm coming for you!
