My time in Melbourne was mainly spent shopping, doing Neighbours' related activities and staying in the hostel so I wasn't tempted to go shopping again.
Shaina, a girl in my room, and I went to the theatre one night to see Wicked. She'd been going on about how good it was, and then we found out that a couple of hours before showtime, the theatre holds a lottery where people can win tickets for $30. We entered that one night and, although neither of us won, they let everyone who had entered buy tickets for $50 so we had a civilised night out at the theatre that was very nice.
Another day we went to St Kilda, the beach suburb of Melbourne. It was quite pleasant but I think it would have been much nicer in the summer.
I did the Neighbours Tour which was amazing! We went to the school (which was in Blackburn!!) although we didn't get out, then we were taken to the studio and shown round Lassiters and Grease Monkeys and the Mechanics. I couldn't believe how tiny it was! We then went to the actual Ramsay Street, which, again, was so small, took many photographs, then went to St Kilda to meet Janelle. A couple from the hostel who went a couple of days before me got to meet Stingray which would have been miles better but oh well.
Every Monday at the Elephant and Wheelbarrow Pub in St Kilda is Neighbours Night. It was amazing! We got to meet Karl Kennedy (!!), Donna, Steve and Connor. Dylan was there as well at the beginning but he didn't come round for photos or autographs. After the meet and greet and a few quizzes, Paul Robinson came on and performed with Karl's band, then the man himself performed. It was so cheesy it was ridiculous!
I didn't like Melbourne as much as I thought I would. There wasn't really much to do except go shopping and go to cafes. I'm sure it's different in the summer but I definitely preferred Sydney!
