Our first day scuba training was intense! We got up really early and headed out for some breakfast and to meet our instructors and groups. There is 5 in our group all from england and i am the only girl! We headed to the classroom for the final video installment. Tution then involved being shown all the equipment and how to put it togther which seemed simpler than in the book! :) Our final talk for the morning was on pressures, air expansion, injury, checks and signals. All are friendly and although its serious and we are learning its still good fun!
After lunch we were taken out in the boat with all our gear and transferred to a larger boat that was to take us to the dive site. We arrived and id our swim tests (not too hard!) and got kitted up and did all our checks. We dive with buddy so sean in my buddy! (many jokes here but i'll be nice for once!)
We entered the water with a giant stride and had to swim to shore/shallow. The sea was nice and clear and we had learn all the skills such as; ascent, descent, mask problems, regulator troubles and signals. They all went well and there was only a few moments of panic on occasion, Anna (instructor) said this is natural for a first dive! We went deeper and got to see some fish! aha In the deeper air we learnt about bouyancy control and deeper ascents.
We surfaced and headed to the boat and arrived safley back on land at dinner time! After washing the equipment and a chat with the group we had much needed showers and some food!
Overall a great day and although quite nerve racking at times we managed to pull through, relax and have fun! We are excited for a proper dive tomorrow but also apprehensive about the depth! No quick surfacing from down there!! :S but we shall be fine Anna is good and very calming! :) Will keep an eye out for those turtles!!
