Friday we didn't get to bed until after midnight due to packing, packing and re-packing with it still not done! Up early in morning as we had to go to the Post Office and the doctors for a final check up, I was fine but ring-worm on my leg and a skin fungal infection on my shoulder :)
We spent our day doing our final shops in Owino and the Craft Market with us girls and Bens mum, Tammy going to Lotus Mexicana at 5pm for some lovely cocktails. Around 8 we headed back to Backpackers to get ready for our final night out. It was good fun, with us going round the clock to 5am this morning.
This lunchtime we met Jane, Steven, Harriet, Regan and Carol at the garage and caught a car taxi to the Serena. You should of seen Harriets face when we said the destitnation to the driver!
On Sundays they have a brunch all you can eat from 1-5pm and so that's where we were going to take them.
Walking through The Serena was amazing, even for myself let alone Jane and the children, it is beautiful!
Sitting at the table, we explained that you could get as many pieces of meet you wanted and could go for cake 10 times, they just had to eat until they couldn't anymore. Steven was laughing away, Carol was like a meer-cat looking around everywhere, Harriet and Regan were silent and Jane was just smiling. They were all in shock.
Vic took the children up first only for them all to come back with plates full of cakes, they didn't want savoury first :) Madam Jane couldn't believe her eyes, all the food and telling her that she could leave food if she couldn't finish, well she didn't believe it.
The children had their faces painted and had balloon hat and bracelets made. This was to give them a break before their next round of food, this time they had plates of savoury.
We walked the beautiful gardens, with Regan squeeling everytime he saw a fish, 'Teacher, Teacher, you see, you seeeee!' And Harriet asking me, 'Do they paint the fish and put them in the water? What about if they want to eat them' She couldn't believe the fish were different colours.
Madam Jane just kept thanking us, she couldn't believe everything that was going on, nor could the children. They were doing something they could only ever dream about.
Seeing Regan running around with his balloon sword and Carol getting cake down her top, all the smiles and laughter, it made me feel on top of the world. What a fantastic afternoon it was!
We're now going to take them to the cinema to see Toy Story 3 and then back home for a late night of packing and tidying the house for my departure at 12 tomorrow.
Doing all of this, some might say it's too much but it's not. We just wanted to give something back to Jane and the children as they have done so much for us this year!
Tomorrow is going to be hard, saying goodbye to everyone in the compound and saying goodbye to Jane at the airport. There is know way I'll be able to keep it in for this goodbye, I got emotional earlier just saying goodbye to the gang at Backpackers for the day! x x
