Day 76 (Wednesday 20th Feb 08)
7:30am bus from Da Lat to Mui Ne which Em wasn't looking forward to! We had to go back down the thin, long, dangerous road. The bus was overtaking lorrys & other buses on the corners etc. Finally reached the bottom to Em's relief. We then changed buses. Another 3 hours & we arrived at Mui Ne at about 2:30pm. It was a nice feeling to find ourselves in warmer climes again. Found a guesthouse across from where we were dropped for $7 a night with A/C. We then had lunch at the guesthouse and went for a walk along the beach. Explored the tiny town, not much to explore really. Only lazying on the beach required here. Headed back to the guesthouse for a shrimp curry & to play some cards.
Day 77 (Thursday 21st Feb 08)
Noisy night and not much sleep because of the busy road running through the village. Got up and had a long cold shower as the water drips out and the power was off, which is a regular occurrence. Went for lunch and Mark had a rice dish with beef although didn't look anything like beef!! Oh well. Em was wise and had fruit with yoghurt. Then headed down to the beach where we chilled out. We didn't think we were getting much sun as it was so cloudy but ended up burnt. Saw a really cute puppy on the way back from the beach outside someone's house. It crawled over both of our feet and playing around so we took a photo. Used the internet and then went across the road & had BBQ seafood. We had to cook 4 squid & 8 prawns ourselves on this tiny little BBQ. It was amazing with a couple of beers. Finished up then came back to our guesthouse to play some cards and drink a couple more beers. Lots of aftersun needed!
Day 78 (Friday 22nd Feb 08)
Got woken up at half eight by noisy road again feeling tired as not much sleep. Read our books while the power was off yet again, then had a shower and lunch. Headed down to the beach for more sun. Layed on some sun lounges that were for hotel guests and got away with it. Group of young boys hanging about on the other spare sun lounges trying to cause trouble. Throwing crabs at a couple while they weren't looking and bashed Em on the foot as they walked past on purpose! Chilled out for a bit then came back to the guesthouse to use the internet. Went for a wander, watched the sunset and the fisherman pulling in some nets onto the beach. Came back to the guesthouse and had some steamed fish for tea. Played our daily cards.
Day 79 (Saturday 23rd Feb 08)
Another sleepless night. Tried to sleep for a bit longer but ended up reading our books till lunchtime. Headed downstairs and ate lunch at our guesthouse! Onto the beach for what we hoped would be nice and relaxing on sun loungers however they were all full as it's the weekend. Layed down on the sand. Mark was fascinated with the crabs which bury themselves in the deep burrows in the sand and move like lightning. So started trying to catch one by digging out the burrow. After half an hour of this and a few more holes no closer to catching one! One of the kids who collects bottles from people found this amusing and caught one within a couple of minutes. He hung around for a while messing about with the crab and then found a couple more! Mark feeling pretty useless now. Gave him our empty bottles then headed back to use skype at the place next door to our guesthouse. Phoned our parents then as we were halfway through speaking to Em's family our internet went down!! Tried to get it working again with no luck so decided we would head back there tomorrow to try again. Em got bitten by mosquitos alot which were really itchy. Went back across the road to have some shrimps on the BBQ. We decided to go for just shrimp today and got 7 each for under a pound. Mark not feeling overly well - coldy.
Day 80 (Sunday 24th Feb 08)
Went down to the beach again today after lunch at our guesthouse. The sun loungers were all taken again so setup where we were yesterday. However today the wind was stronger than usual and it made for comedy applying sun cream while sand was beening blow at us. Ended up a sandy mess. Mark feeling worse today. Stayed down the beach for a while before our young friend came for the empty bottles. We started to try and teach him a bit of english by drawing shapes etc in the sand and writing the word by it. He was doing the same and teaching us some Vietnamese. It was really good fun! When he thought it was time to go he waved us goodbye and we decided we couldn't deal with the wind lashing the sand on us any longer. We tried to upload photos back at the guesthouse without success and ended up doing our blog. Later went to use skype with more luck this time. Then came back for some more fish and chilled out.
Day 81 (Monday 25th Feb 08)
A really sleepless night both up most of it! Really is bloody annoying having a major highway through such a small town! Got up earlier today and went for lunch, then bet you can't guess, went down to the beach. It was lovely laying on the sun loungers again but we didn't see our friend so gave our empty bottles to one of the other kids. Relaxed but again really windy and this was blowing the cushions off of the sunloungers. Majorly hot today with clear skies. Got a lot of sun and came to use the internet. Went for yet another seafood BBQ in the evening.
Day 82 (Tuesday 26th Feb 08)
Again another sleepless night. Read our books and then got up and decided to go next door for some lunch. Another hot day soaking up the sun on the sunloungers which was nice and relaxing. The only annoying thing was the massagers hanging around trying to get business. As usual then went back to the guest house to use the cheap slow internet. Had a look into campervans and flights for Oz. Later on had something to eat and lots of beer!
Day 83 (Wednesday 27th Feb 08)
Up for our last day in the sun. Cloudly today but surprising the amount of sun you still get. Luckily managed to get on the sunloungers again today. There were some kids messing around on the wall near to our sunloungers - climbing up it and then messing around on the palm tree umbrellas which we thought was going to collapse with them on it. One of the kids then decided to take a leak whilst standing on top of it. Very strange! Decided we should probably make a move so went back up to the guest house. For our last night in Mui Ne we went across the road for some more shrimps! Tough life!
