Even though we have only been here a couple of days I feel like we manage to see and do so much. Today we started off at the Ho Chi Minh national museum, a beautiful building which explained the history of the city, it's story and development and it's struggle for independence. It also had bunkers which you could go down and walk through the maze of tunnels in which it still has original furniture in the living room, a little scary at times but really interesting. It also showed some of the old cars which they had managed to preserve from years ago, something probally my dad would've have had as his first car haha. After we then visited the War Renmants Museum- another place which shows what effects that the war did the the people over here and the ones it's still having due to toxic chemicals that we're used, it's heartbreaking to see. It showed many horrendous pictures of effects and pictures taken back then by the journalists, most of which sadly died along with most in the pictures they took. Outside the museum we're US armoured vehicles and weapons including tanks helicopters and bombs which we're used. One corner of the museum was devoted to showing conditions of the prisons, it was horrendous and showed punishment devices such as an old guillotine and the inhumane tiger cages we're most people died. I can't begin to explain how sad it all is to see, and then to walk out and see people who are still effected now begging on the street as they can't work due to having no legs/arms/ blindness ect. To finish off our day we went to the 49th floor of the Bitex Financial tower- which has 68 floors. It is a building shaped like a lotus bulb, the flower of Vietnam. The view up here is absolutley breathtaking, you can see for miles and can view nearly the whole city. From here we watched the sunset over the city which was amazing, it's hard to describe just how good it really is! However the lift went up and down so fast I got a little scared on the way back down thinking it may not stop in time, not for those who are afraid of heights! It was a brilliant way to end the day.
