Finally on dry land this morning we went to do a trek at the national park on cat ba island- all which we had paid for in our ticket however on arrival out your guide said we needed to pay again- shock! Out of 50 people on our bus he said we we're the only ones who had to pay, what a suprise. So we waited by the entrance and didn't go in just on the principal of that we had already paid and was not going to give in to his scamming ways. Everyone said it was pretty crap anyway with a horrible walk to the top so i'm not bothered we didn't go. Eventually we checked into our hotel, which funnily enough he gave us the room on the top floor furthest away from reception with no wifi or no lift- again, funny that... We had also paid for all meals included which he said we didn't have either when everyone else does. Anyway we have decided to sack off his crappy tour and him from now and went and explored the town on our own and then went our for a nice meal and drinks infront of the pier- finally a little less stressed out and a lot less angry. The island is small though and there is not so much to do so tommorow we will probally go on a walk or to the beach for the day- not really bothered just want the time to go quickly so we can get back to the mainland. Everyone we have spoke to doing these tours seems to have been ripped off in one way or another and said they wouldn't come back. It's sad because it deffinatly has changed my view on Vietnam and it takes the beauty out of what the bay is about. The people should realise this, it also looks bad on them- which I told the tour guide quite honestly to his face.
