This morning simon and I had nice sleep in until around 11am - it was needed!! We got up and got ready and Erin, Simon and I set off on our adventures through Rome! We decided we wanted to walk around as it was such a nice day and everything was reasonably close anyway! We walked past the colosseum in to ancient Rome. I found everything really beautiful! Before getting in to the city we came across a giant marble building for culture and heritage! It was beautiful! We then walked in to town and made our way through each little novella - most were tiny little alley ways leading to big squares with pretty buildings and water fountains! The best by far was the Trevi fountain! We were lead in by street markets and at the end there was an enormous fountain! It's hard to believe that such a small looking alley way would lead to such a beautiful water fountain! We all took many photos and made wishes! Apparently throwing 1 coin means goodluck, 2 means you'll return to Rome and 3 meaning you want to get married. Obviously we found this out after we through our coins because Simon and I both through 3 ha ha. On a side note I did find my future wedding dress in a shop window in Rome today! It was love at first sight ha ha :) After Trevi fountain we walked back through the alley and stopped for breakfast - lemon gelato! Yum! Simon had strawberry and Erin had mango! We then walked to the Pantheon and on to the Vatican city where we saw the Sistine chapel! It was pretty amazing! The lines to go inside are enormous! The Vatican city is pretty cool it's considered it's own country and to cross over you need to walk over a bridge because it's surrounded by water! By this point we were all starving! Frozen water from small vans situated throughout the city was our savior as it was 32•C! We walk back in to Roma and found a little cafe where we stopped for lunch! Erin had a vegetable pasta and simon and I shared bruschetta and a margarita pizza! After lunch we walked back to our villa to wait and see if Henry and Kate would return so they wouldn't get stuck outside in the heat without a key! The air-conditioning in our apartment is amazing. After about 20 minutes of relaxing in the air con they turned up and in perfect timing because we were about to leave again! We all went for a walk in search of an Internet cafe and the Roma Termini so I could organise the trains I had booked for us all. What we looked up to be an Internet Cafe turned out to be a phone shop, but we did find the train station and I printed out our train tickets! We decided we'd cook our dinner tonight as we had a kitchen! Simon and I didn't want pasta, so we cooked our own meal! We had pork steaks with a tomato salsa that Simon made - it was amazing! and garlic beans! It's all I've wanted for the past 3 weeks. After dinner Simon and I sat down and booked our accommodation for Barcelona and our flights for Croatia! Our flights were a little more expensive than we would have liked but apparently its well worth it! After Italy we're all splitting up! I'm so excited to travel with just simon for 3 weeks :)
