Well this morning didn't go exactly as planned, but I think it turned out even better! Simon and I didn't even think to check if there was a time difference between Spain and Greece and of course there was an hours difference! We woke up at 6 quickly got dressed ad went straight to the train station! Within 15 minutes we were on the train and off to the port... When I noticed a clock saying '7:14'! Instantly I remembered hearing of the 1 hour difference but we were both hopefully being in Athens it was just wrong!! We had well and truly missed our ferry! We got to the portend went looking for the office to the company to see what we could do, only to find they were closed for another hour when we found a random shop selling tickets! We had two options; wait until 7am the next morning or take a ferry to Santorini and catch a connecting ferry from to Santorini to Ios. Initially we thought it would be far too long of a day but it turned out to be an amazing day! Our first ferry was like a big cruise ship! Simon and I found a little area outside on the deck and for 4 hours we relaxed and sunbaked while we cruised along the Aegean ocean. It was really pretty because we went past lots of islands and the water is such a beautiful colour! After hours of tanning we went inside to escape the suns rays and Simon had something to eat before, finding a shady area on deck to watch the boat pull in to Santorini! We hoped off our boat and sat in a cafe along the port and had a drink and I had lunch! I'm loving the Greek salads here! We then hoped on our connecting ferry to Ios which was a jet cat, it only took 40 minutes! We sat next to a girl who was from Nevada, but Greek! She told us places to go in the islands we are visiting, foods to eat, drinks to try and pronunciation and phrases of words! She was such an amazing help! Very glad we sat next to her - she was even a teacher :) ha ha. Finally, we made it to Ios! Wow! What a beautiful place! We got picked up at the port by far out and they took to the village. The location is amazing! We are right on the beach. As soon as we got there we dumped our things and walked straight across the road to the beach! The water here is such a beautiful colour! I feel like I'm at home! It's such a nice feeling. We're both so relaxed! The sun is so hot - you get burnt and the next day it's gone and you're just brown! I'm going to be a whole new type of tanned I think! After our swim and Simon's attempt to teach me how to skim rocks we went to a bar on the beach that had big, comfy lounge chairs and tried one of the local beers that was recommended by the girl we met! It was nice and refreshing :) After a while we walked down to a restaurant and had dinner. I am now obsessed with fried zucchini - amazing!! The restaurant was nice - on the beach and had a big family feel to it with our waiters being a father and son!! (He was so cute. Probably about 10-11). We paid 9€ for 3 courses and drinks! We then ventured back to our little hut - the plan was to stay at far out camping, go out, meet new people and then go stay in our apartment for a few days, but we both decided we didn't really want to go out and we were happy doing things together - just us two. It was so touristy you just felt like you were somewhere on the coast in Australia, but if you were with a group it would be an amazing place to go out and have a good night! We were boring and had a few drinks and went to bed - in our defense the band was playing horrible covers and ruining songs for us though!
Completely irrelevant and off subject! Toilets in the Greek islands freak my world out!! You're not meant to flush toilet paper and they provide you with a bin! The toilets are all smelly and yucky! Arghh.. I don't like that at all ha ha.
