Ellen's Mini Adventure!
Hello all.......from my new desk....in my new office....in my new JOB! Yep- after a long 9 months of being a travelling bum, i am now settled in beautiful Sydney and am a working girl once again!
Had the most amazing two weeks with Mum out here. We really did the tourist thing........we spent the first week in Sydney where i took Mum to all the sites including the Opera House, The Harbour Bridge....(although she chickened out of climbing it!!ha), the Sydney Tower (the tallest in the city!) and apart from a little freaking out incident up the top where she wouldnt come outside for a picture for fear of falling, she did very well.........did i mention Mum has vertigo- whoops! Maybe visiting all the tallest buildings in New South Wales was not the best of my plans! We spent a beautiful day on Manly beach and Watsons Bay and ate at some fantastic restaurants. We visited Oceanworld Manly and saw the BIGGEST stingray- EVER! The weather was fantastic for the whole 2 weeks, and many a day we wandered the beach at Bondi and had coffee and ice-cream at various cafes. We visited Darling Harbour, we went to the cinema, and we booked all our transport and accommodation for the second week when we hit Melbourne........
Melbourne, yet again was beautiful weather, a hell of a lot better than my last visit there. We stayed in a fantastic hostel, and we did an overnight train journey......have to say it wasnt the most comfortable of rides, but got us there in one piece! We went to Melbourne Zoo, we walked the city for five days solid, we rode the City Tram, we went to the amazing Queen Victoria Markets, and yet again visited some beautiful cafes, restaurants and did some shopping. For two days we hit THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD........we hired a car and had an amazing two days in the sunshine as we drove along the beautiful coastline, and saw all the sites along the way, including a re-visit to the Round The Twist Lighthouse! We stayed in a great cabin/motel in Port Campbell and watched the sunset over the Tweleve Apostles......we battled with the winds and went to see the amazing London Bridge rock formation.....amazing....... we flew back to Sydney after a jam packed 2 weeks and last Monday Mum flew home..........gutted.......had the most amazing 2 weeks......we're both hoping for a lottery win so she can come out again before i get home.........but now the build up to James (my brother) coming out is even better......especially as when Mum was here she boooked James and I in to do a sky dive on the 3rd January for our Christmas present.......aaaarrrrGGGGGgggHHHHhhhhhhhh..........
So.....Mum left, and i began a desperate hunt for work, and by last tuesday i had an interview for a brilliant position here at Sydney Ports as Project Co-ordinator. Was warned the role could be tedious, but the money is excellent, so i joined three other girls for the interview process and got the job last Thursday- yeay! I am loving it, i am working in a team of fifteen other prople on a new project, the biggest to ever take place in New South Wales, it is the building of a new five berth, $680 BILLION extension to the Sydney and Darling Harbour. It is a massive project and is really interesting....it is hitting on a lot of the environmentla issues that i learnt so much about at Burnham Beeches, and i have the role for the next 3 months at least, which is perfect. My office os overlooking Darling Harbour, and is a shame the weather is rubbish at the mo, but come a couple of weeks the views are going to be fantastic...........
So, thats me, all settled, and looking forward to this weekend as its Caths birthday, so going to be a big one! Also in TWELEVE days i had my buddy rom uni Juliet coming out for a visit.........wooo wooooo.......non-stop between now and 2007 i tell ya!
Right better go, as i do actually have work to do.....hope you are all well, drop me a line with what you've all been up to, and now i have email at work i will reply to all you peeps who have emailed in the past few weeks.....sorry for being lame!
Lots of love me xxxx
