Ellen's Mini Adventure!
Hello all.......long time no update....i know....apologies....however.....here is what i have been up to for the past 3 weeks since arriving in Sydney and settling!
When i left you last i had done the Sydney Harbour Bridge walk with Sue and the girls had gone home.........booo hooo........
Whilst sorting all my arrangements here in Sydney to work/live eg bank account and Tax number, Vix and i also did as many touristy things as possible in our spare minutes.....which included visiting Weatherdale Wildlife Park....an absolutley brilliant place, full of so many different animals and we were able to get right up close and touch them.....including......Moody your going to be so so SO jealous.....we spent ages in with LOADS of koalas........have caught one actually MOVING on video for you Moods........which is rare considering they sleep for 19 hours of the day!!!!
Anywho, the weather upon arrival in Sydney and for the first 2 weeks here was.........RUBBISH!!!!! Poured with rain most days and was pretty drizzly and grey......so i took the chance and went to the Sydney Opera House and did the tour of the place which was really interesting. It was a full explanation of the structure, which is even more impressive when you know the work that went into it!
Then, Monday the 11th September, Paul and Cath (the Irish brother and sister that i met on my tour in Asia) arrived in Sydney, and we all hit the town...........well...actually, to be more specific, Paul and I hit the town, as unfortunately Cath was on anti-biotics.......the 4 of us went to Scruffy Murphys for a well earned beer, and then we hit the Southern Comfort back at the hostel..........apparently it was a really good night!!?!!!!???#%$#$#!....... i dont remember! ha ha..........
And then the weather turned beautiful, has been 27 every day since, and the house hunt began...............
Vix is going off on a tour for a few weeks, hence Cath and Paul and I are looking for somewhere for just the 3 of us, and our two criterias were CHEAP and BY THE BEACH!!!!! The Summer months here are renowned for being extremely hot, hence we wanted to be close enough to a beach for the weekends and after work.....so the best option is the infamous BONDI BEACH!!! Otherwise known as Mini Ireland!
Well.......the hunt was short and sweet and jam packed, and after seeing some horrific places and some places completely over our budget we found........perfection!
Unit 4, The Oxford, 57 Beach Road, BONDI BEACH!!!............we viewed it twice, got on with our landlord Nobby really well, he is a lovely guy.......and moved in bright and early Friday morning!!!! The location is just brilliant for the 3 of us, and we are only a train from the city and right near a huge shopping centre, plus a 3 minute 20 second (yes we timed it!!!) walk from the beach! Mum, James, Juliet and Danesh you are going to love it! The summer here is going to be brilliant!
So, house all sorted, was obviously going to be a down side to last week......and that down side came in the form of my hunt for work.............lets just say i started two jobs last week, with two of the most awful, intimidating and generally unaccepting companies in the whole of Sydney..........one job they didnt even know i was coming and had filled the position, and the other....well that is not even worth writing about, the woman was pure evil, and you'll be pleased to here i told her so as i walked out the door!!!! Not a pleasant experience, and with money becoming an issue, i am applying for anything that comes my way now, starting from the 9th October, because as of this Sunday i am official host to MUMMY MORIARTY who is flying out to visit her favourite daughter!!!!!! woooooo woooooooo....so exciting, our house is in desperate need of some Mothers loving and so am i ...... got lots planned for the next 2 weeks, so will be a great next update, with plenty of photos of her visit! Hope your excited Mumsie!!!!
Plus i have the added suprise that the 28th October sees my little Juliet from Uni making a suprise last minute spontaneous decision to come and see me and join me in the surf for 2 weeks..........HOW EXCITING!!!!! With all the people i have coming out is going to feel just like home!!
So, tonight Paul is cooking us dinner........shock horror!!!!!...........and we are chilling in the pad with dvds after a beach walk at sunset...........is so nice to be settled......
Have taken some more photos of 'OUR' beach, as it now officially belongs to us, so will send them on soon!
Hope you are all well, and looking after yourself.
take care
Love me xx
