I was really sad to leave the hotel In Kuala Lumpur, they were so nice. As I was leaving the three receptionists all stopped to chat about travelling alone as a female. Mind you the reason I liked them could have been because they said they thought I was much too young to be retired!!
The walk to the bus station didn’t take nearly as long as google said, the bus was waiting and the journey took half the time predicted, so all that added to the fact that I always like to arrive early - I spent most of my day at the airport.
There are two terminals - one with a forest in the middle - I am flying Air Asia (cheap tickets) so I was at the other one and got Lion dancers instead.
As it was early evening when I arrived I decided that I would just use the shuttle bus rather than a taxi. When I got on there was an honesty bus for you to put your 500 Kyats in. I only had a 1000 note so a very kind girl changed it for me. I then saw 2 young backpackers having the same problem but they only had 5000. I looked but didn’t have 5 1000 notes - so I very generously paid their fare - about 25p each!! They were from USA and Canada and were travelling until the money ran out. He was a carpenter and had found jobs here and there to keep them going.
