I rode my first mountain bike ever - could well be the last time as I am not a natural cyclist. However I must say it is easier than the sit up and beg bikes that we had in Bagan.
We started in the city and went down to the port, on to a ferry and 5 minutes later were on the other side of the River Yangon. After a visit to the market and a recycling shop we stopped for a coffee, cake and dumpling. All very nice - it was then I discovered Ben, who was in our group of 4 cyclists, came from Maidstone and went to school with David (can’t remember him). Small world isn’t it!!
We then got into very small boats - bikes in one, us in the other and went to a small river island - lovely and flat with children who all wanted to high five us. Little did they know that I was a beginner and should not be riding one handed.
In the afternoon we moved to a hotel nearer Ellis’s flat and the airport. Ellis turned up at 5.30pm after work and we went round to see her very empty flat. Lovely as it is on the 6th floor of a brand new block. She just needs to furnish it. We then ate at a little cafe that is just round the corner from her place- delicious - she will be there often.
It was a lovely way to spend our last full day in Myanmar.

Jan You must be getting very fit now with all this cycling. Amazing that so far away, in such a small group, another should come from Maidstone! If Ben can't remember David how do you know they were at school together?
