Today is June 2nd, the day before I leave for the first stop on my Eastern Seaboard tour - Boston, Massachusetts! I spent the day packing my suitcase and backpack with everything I will need. I am very excited to see all of the historical places we will be visiting. I'm interested in how people lived their lives in the past - their daily lives, their homes, their societies, their struggles. I think that Colonial Williamsburg will be the best place to see all of these things. I'm also excited to see the War Memorials in Washington DC. Since the U.S. in political struggles with Iraq and Afghanistan seeing the War Memorials and Arlington National Cemetery will help me compare the past to the present. I have always enjoyed social studies classes at school. I have heard that we learn history so we don't repeat the mistakes of our past. But I think we also learn history to see everything that those before us got right. I think seeing the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and the Declaration of Independence will show me everything our forefathers got right. Watch out East Coast, here I come!
