We arrived in Madrid after a 7 hour flight which went by rather quickly since we had made a mad dash to our plane after being held up at the American Airlines counter at JFK to check all of our additional checked luggage. We obtained our rental car and amazingly packed in all of our luggage, only to stop at a nearby storage facility to put away four suitcases packed with winter clothing and ski gear.
Now, around 11 AM with blistering hot sun and temperatures near 100°, we then proceeded into Madrid city to meet up with one of Nick's colleagues at I.E., the business school where Nick will be working in September, Who graciously agreed to store my insulin vials that I will need for the year in his refrigerator.
Hot and tired, we then left Madrid and headed to Segovia. After about an hour and a half ride through arid, desert like terrain, we arrived in the historic city of Segovia.
Winding up the narrow old roads to the city center and to our Airbnb in our oversized vehicle, we arrived at our apartment right across from Cathedral and right around the corner from the Plaza Mayor.
After a much needed bath (we could not figure out how to turn on the shower), we made our way to the plaza to finally sit down and enjoy the scenery, wine and cheese.
We then walked through town down to the Roman aqueduct, an area filled with tourists. We all consumed frozen yogurt which served as our dinner.
We awoke the next morning at 9:57 AM, racing to get everyone ready to meet the I.E. lawyer who was scheduled to meet us at 10:20 am to help us get our Spanish residency cards. We made it by 10:23. Having a Spanish attorney with us was the key; we got our temporary cards despite our photos not being taken on a plain white background.
After a quick meal, we packed up and headed to our destination for the next 5 weeks, San Sebastián.

Anne Marie Fasy Whew! A mad dash! The pictures of all of you were delightful to see and a relief to see your smiles! Was it the yogurt or the wine? Hmmm.... Michael particularly mentioned Segovia after his trip there too...Roman aqueducts remain centuries later...remarkable. Wonderful to really see you on a FaceTime visit with Andrews expert videography. Hope camp and school will be solid experiences! Love to all ♥️,
