What a time we've had in Tasmania! It was certainly worth the extra money to go on a tour and the effort to get over here. The tour lasted 6 full days and the party we went with were great! We were taken to many national parks to walk through rainforests and viewing spectacular waterfalls. We also trekked up 2 mountains, the Cradle Mountain and Mount Amos, which both gave spectacular views and were well worth the effort to get up there! Mount Amos had very little tracks so a lot of it was literally climbing up step smooth granite faces which was fun if a little scary at times. I know I’ve probably said this before but the pictures really do not do them justice
I also got the opportunity to go quad biking around miles of sand dunes which was great fun, managed to get it up to just over 70 k/ph and even flew through the air after some hills! The beaches here were also beautiful and managed to catch some waves in the sea for a short while.
The evening entertainment was also great fun, from the Canadian influenced '3 man' (thanks Kate and Dave- 'it so hot right now') drinking game- perhaps the greatest example of drink bullying I’ve ever witnessed, to the legendry toga party and baby fancy dress nights. During the Toga party, one of the confused Japanese guys on the tour even found himself on a penguin watching tour late at night, dressed only in a toga! He came back saying 'Ohhh, so cold!' You have to see the pictures of Chris as a baby as well... gravity was not on his side!
The last day however was a little annoying for me as my MP3 player was stolen- not only was it annoying to have it taken in the first place but I've lost all of my songs I’d built up and now have no music for the remaining 6 months.
Still, the tour was well worth it and possibly one of the highlights of the trip so far. Met so many great people and will be meeting up with a lot during the next few months hopefully! Too many stories to tell on here so most will have to be saved for my return!
