Decided to make a quick two day trip to Australia's capital, Canberra. People say theres not much to do there, which is true, but just enough to occupy me for a few days!

<p>I made a visit to both the new and old parliment house in order to keep up my fix of culture! No sign of Jonny Howard anywhere- probably watching cricket or something but got to have a good wonder around though and see where everything takes place etc

<p> I also decided to climb the Black Mountain- probably not the best idea at midday when the temperature is 36 degrees... but I managed it and reached the top in a rather drenched state, the view from the lookout was worth it giving a 360 degree view of probably the most un capital looking capital in the world! However at the top of the mountain, discvovered there was a shuttle bus which got people up and down- so the hot walk was not necessary at all! At least I can say I climbed the Black Mountian though (it sounds as if it should be on the Lost Island- infact there was a Hurley look-a-like up ther... no doubt they got the shuttle bus though!).

<p>My hostel was also very nice- there was nobody in my dorm so spent my first night since travelling in a room alone and the hostel even had a pool and spa- very luxurious for a backpacker!
