dzasta travels
Again camped miles out of town but this is a really nice place. They have hot water super clean toilets and generally clean.
I had a great night sleep last night so Im feeling good today, best night sleep Ive had since I been here. I had a productive day today working on a plan to get out of the last half of the tour. I just have to do the logistics and if I can make it work ang get to the places I want I will. This is soooo different to backpacking. If I was backpacking I wouldn't have 2 hours of chores to do EVERY day so I would have more time to see stuff and do things. Im here at 3.30am cos the internet slow and everyone else on at night and I cant sleep in cos there is a freight train in my tent. Also, if I was backpacking I would have headed north by now cos it is so cold, yesterday was the coldest day we have had so far and I was in trackie and jacket all day.
Yesterday we went to the Great Zimbabwe ruins. it is where this country first started and where the name came from when they got independence. the guide was really entertaining. All thde guides we have had have been entertaining. There were some dancers and they did one traditional dance so we had to put some money in their bowl. So far I have had to pay ot tip someone everyday. At this rate it will add about an extra $200-$300 to the trip?
HARARE
The next few days are transit days to get through a couple of small insignificant countries. Not much to see and do. We had a couple of hours to kill in Harare. The streets are wide enough to turn a bullock cart, a legacy from the english heritage. When every shop has bars on the windaws and the supermarket has security at the fromt door you know this is not a great place to be. I bought a belt and a watch, cos everything is regemented to time. We stayed at Boulders guest camp and all upgraded for $4 to a room instead of the tents. What a great cahnce to get some sleep. Tomorrow we go at 5am cos we have a border crossing into Zambia.

Ngaere So far the only place we had been to that you have done is Vic Falls. I am keeping track of you on a google map - more detail to the one on this page. Hope all improves a little as you move along.
Ashlea Glad you finally got some sleep. Hope it keeps improving as you go. It looks amazing in photos so I can only imagine what it looks like in real life! Can you take a photo of your tent for me? Hope you stay safe for the next week! Xx
Aprille How much did you tip the dancers lol
