dzasta travels
Border crossing was pretty easy, just the usual passport and stamps in amd out. The drive was reasonably picturesque. We camped at Eureka campsite and there were aminals running around just outside the campsite. We quickly put up the tents and headed to town for som shopping for the crew and to change some money. We have used US dollars so far but have to change to Zambian kwacha. The shopping ctr is brand new and you can tell it is a good one. They have about 20 armed guards patrolling the outside and everyshop has a security guard inside.
Back to camp and I tried to get close to the animals. I got pretty close and got a couple of pics but I couldnt get as close as I expected. I couldnt stay long cos I had chores to do back at camp, and they have to be done in the right order and at the right time.
There was another matress scandal tonight. One is missing. That is my job and something always seems to go wrong. There was another massive drama. Oh well my bad? Then just hanging around waiting for time to do my other chores.
Early start again tomorrow for another transit day.
Day 9 and only 30 to go, and the nightmare continues. We did nothing except chores yesterday and thats what I expect again tday This morning while doing my chores I got "dont do that" Not there" "this way" etc. Well Im over it. Im on pots and its the most disgusting thing you have ever seen. They gice you a small filthy piece of steel wool and some green cleaner and u gotta scrub. You end up with some filthy grey sludge theat has to be rinsed off.
This morning someone cleaned the esky. There is an esky and a freezer on board and some people seem to use them but I dont know the protocol so I leave them alone.
On the drive we went through a coulpe of villages and we stopped at one of the bigger ones to have a look around. They were selling smoked fish and some small fruit. No one could tell me the name but I bought some anyway. The green ones tasted like a green apple and the brown ones like the brown bits of an apple. Much later I thought they looked exactly like a Lillypilly.
At Chipata we stayed at Mama-Rulas camp. It was a warm night for a change so we had a couple of beers. The camp wasanother good one.

Ashlea What would happen if you boycotted the chores and just went exploring? Sounds like hell :(
Ngaere The chores are not that bad. You need to just roll with the flow. Remember you are not on your own, as usual. It is a cheap holiday. When you look at what others pay and how little they see, it is value for your money even with chores. Hope you see more animals soon. Still going to places we have not been too.
Aprille My god, you seem to be doing more chores on holidays than you do in your house. Lol bahahahahah
john Skelton this is the most expensive holiday I have had, it is NOT cheap! If I had backpacked it I could see more of what I wanted and less of the other stuff and NO chores
DanV John, you need an escape plan and you need to Make the big breakout! Oh, and don't forget to take a mattress with you. :)
