Matobo national park is all about Rhino's. We have come here to see them and track them on foot. The guide, Ian, was very knowledgable and entertaining. About 500mtr into the park we found our first rhino. He was one of the big alpha males and really big. Ian stopped the truck and we were allowed out and got up very close and personal with him. That was a bit daunting bit very cool. we go to within about 5mtr of him.
We went back and checked in and Ian found there was a group not too far away. We went looking and a couple of the locals gave us directions. We parked up and went on foot and found a group of 6 just feeding and we sat with them. They carried on feeding and didn't seem to wory about us, in fact coming quite close. We got to about 3mtr of them.
This is the kinda cool stuff I came to see and do, shame the other stuff sucks so much.
The arvo we went and looked at some cave paintings and then went to Cecil Rhodes grave to watch the sun go down, the place is called "View of the World"
Im am now starting to question the whole come to Africa to see animals. The tour today; If we were looking at the rhinos from a distance we might pay $20, but if they habituate them and I get up close and personal I will pay $200. Is this a good thing or just making someone rich?

Ngaere Today sounds like it was a cool day. Rocks are not as exciting as rhinos but it all looks good. Keep enjoying it all.
