dzasta travels
I´ve just been sitting in the pub with a couple of Peruvian friends blowin the froth off a couple of king browns. The bottles here are bigger than the ones at home. Pedro has lived in Sydney so speaks english and his mate is Imara so from Puno and speaks no english. Its been a fun couple of hours. This morning I wrote down the address I wanted to go to to get the bus cos I couldnt say it. The first taxi I hailed said he knew it so off we go. He dropped me at a place just around the corner. Not the place I had writen down. But, there was a bus that was going to Pisac so I paid my 2.20S, about $1aus, for the 1 hour ride. It was a local bus so we had a few stops on the way to pick up and set down, people, chooks, goats, that kinda thing. The stinky kid next to me had the worst morning breath you could inagine. The scenery was unbelievable. It was overcast so no pics but it was amazing driving up through the mountains. Pisac is set in the most amazing location and I find it hard not to just keep taking photo´s. Sunday is market day in Pisac, so today is sunday. The markets look small from the road in but when you get here they are huge. They are world famous and supposed to be the best in Peru. All the stall holders speak english, the only place in Peru where so many people speak english. They are way overpriced for me but it was good to look around. T shirts that are 12s all over Peru, here, start at 25s then special price 20s, 15s. They have the usual stuff, same as every market all over the world. This arvo I went to the ruins. To get there you walk up the steps for 4km or take a taxi for 10km at 10s. You got it I took the cab. I did walk back and having done that I recon the walk wouldnt be too bad and would save the cost of entry. I paid the entry fee this time and it was money well spent. I poked around the ruins for a while and followed the trail back down. The scenery is amazing and I hope the pics do the place justice. The steps coming down are newish cos the Incas did not have steps like that. They took up valuable growing space and required maintenance. I did spy original steps on the way down so look for the pic. A little girl followed me for ages pestering me to buy and eventually she got to me. I did barter her down but still paid over the odds. Im off to Urubamba tomorrow on another local bus.
