dzasta travels
It has been a long day on the busses from Boquete but I am here and found a hotel. I have some stuff to do in the morning and some sight seeing then I will update this.
The bus station at Albrook is massive. It is the biggest bus station I have ever been in. The traffic is chaotic cos there is also a shopping Ctr at the bus station and a huge one across the road. On the way in I saw the Panama Canal. It wasn what I was expecting, but I will show you in a couple of days when I go out to the Miraflores locks for some sight seeing.
Someone left the door open onto the roof of my hotel yesterday. I took the opportunity to go up there and check the lay of the land. It was a great help now I know exactly where I am.
This morning I headed for Casco Viejo. It is the old city, before the canal this was Panama. They are doing up the area and a lot of the streets are soo narrow you can't get pics of the buildings. I also wanted to go to the Copa office to try to change my flight to Cuba but they were not much help. I had a long walk around the area and headed back when it started to rain. I got caught big time in the rain today. I had a poncho with me so I kept fairly dry but I was in thongs so I was sliding around on them and some places slipping on the wet tiles. As usual the rain has gone after a couple of hours.
This afternoon I am going to try to navigate the new underground and get to Albrook, where the bus station is to suss out getting to the canal tomorrow.
Well I managed the subway, with the help of a couple of young girls, and made it to Albrook. I think I know where I am going tomorrow. While I was there I went into the shopping Ctr and I also managed to find Dunkin Donughts and Burger King. I did make a couple of purchases while I was there.
This morning the weather has fined up. It is still a bit overcast but not raining. I decided to walk along the Chinta Costera, a waterfront green space with cycle and walking path. It was funny to walk past the marina at low tide and see the high end boats sitting in the mud a sludge. In the city I ventured into a shopping Ctr and they were having a sale so I bought a couple of shirts and headed home before it started to rain. I noticed most of the high rise are apartments and hotels? I thought they were businesses? This arvo I have to go over to Albrook mall again to get ferry ticket for tomorrow to Pearl Islands so I will have dinner there again. The weather has held off all day today so I hope it holds for the next couple of days. I'm booked on the 7am ferry to Contadora for 2 days.
