dzasta travels
Well I made it here. Staying at the bus station last night was OK. It was pretty quiet till the busses started at about 5 so I got a good night sleep and late start. The trip here was pretty uneventful, just run of the mill stuff. The border crossing was to most intrusive I have done on this trip. Everyone had to open their bag and border staff had a bit of a poke around.
The bus station here is in a good location, and surrounded by hotels. I had picked out a couple. The first one was closed for major repairs and I had a kid following me around showing me hotels. Some were OK some were really bad. One was ok but really overpriced. It was getting late so after I did a lap of 2 blocks and didn't find anything suitable I came back to the bus station and stayed here. This one is not as good as the last one but it was ok for last minute. The food over the road was great. 1/2 chicken on a stick, plate of rice and beens, tortilla and coke for $3, very handy.
Today I'm going to change hotels and walk up town to have a look around. Maybe work on getting toCorn Island.
Well I did walk down town. It is not as far as I thought so it only took 1/2hr. I did change hotels. The new one is pretty grubby but sooo cheap, I am only here for one night.
They are getting ready for a party here, I think on the 30th, maybe independence or something similar. There is not much to see. There is a beautiful old church they are letting fall apart, otherwise not much. I managed to change some money, at a phone shop, so I am good to go for a while.
It rained a lot last night and today is very hot, mid 30s, so it is sooo humid. I can't begin to tell you how hot and humid it is. I have been sweating soo much, I am going through 2 shirts a day here again.
Tomorrow I am going to the airport to try to get the midday flight to Corn Island. If I can't get it I can go from there to Leon or Granada and come back to Corn Island. I is no big deal what order but ideally I want Corn Is, Leon then Granada and keep going south to Ometepe.
