teh-GOOS-ee-GAHL-pah the Capitol of Honduras. Often shortened to Tegas
I was on the road early this morning, 5.30, so I could get the direct bus to Tegas. When the right one came along I said to the bus boy "Tegas, directo?" And he said "Si" so I got on. I thought I heard him calling "San Pedro" so I got up and checked. He said they were going to Tegas so I relaxed. I know La Guama from the stuff up there a few days ago so I know which way we have to turn. If we turn the wrong way I will get off the bus and walk over the road and get another bus going the wright way. As it turns out I was asleep when we went through La Guama.
We did indeed the make it to Tegas right on time. We had a comfort stop on the way and I had a joke with the bus boy in Spanish so it is getting a little better.
There are heaps of different bus stations in Tegas so I was keen to get my ticket for tomorrow and find out which bus station I need. I can get a hotel near the station and then walk down town. I got a taxi to take me to King Quality, cos I have used them before. They don't go to Nicaragua any more. Next best is Tica Bus, lucky the taxi driver waited and knew where Tica station is. He took me there and I got a ticket and asked the guy if there is a hotel near by. He took me across the hall and opened the door to one of the best rooms I have had. It is huge. I have AC, TV, own bathroom with hot water, wifi security guard all night and food shop right next door. What more could you want?
I decided to walk down to town to see the Central Park. I walked for over an hour and wasn't getting close so I hailed a taxi. It took another 20min in the taxi. I could never have walked there. The taxi ride home showed me where I went wrong. I missed the first turn right and was actually walking around the city not towards it. Anyway I am back and enjoying the tv.
Tomorrow I am going to Managua, Nicaragua on the Tica bus, that is first class.
