dzasta travels
The big one for this area. One of the new 7 wonders of the world.
I was up early this morning to post up some photos. Also my shoes collapsed yesterday so I was trying to do some repairs to them. $20 Vietnamese shoes don't last like they used to. I hope they last the day cos I am too early to buy some new ones.
I hit the road at 6.30 to get the first collectivo cos I wanted to get into the park before the crowds. I made it into the colectivo with some of the workers going to work. I still wasn't first but only a few people beat me. The place is massive. It was soo hot and humid this morning and the place smelled like wee. Having said that it is pretty impressive. It takes about 3-4km to walk all around the site. All over the site are signs telling about the buildings and they all say about the carving on the door jams etc but you can't get close enough to see. All over the world places like this close the best bits but they usually let people get up close to have a look on some bits but not here so that was the only let down of the day.
There is something about the place being about the Mayan calendar? There are 91 steps up each side of the main temple, plus the top that makes 365.
I will put up some pics soon
i am going to Tullum on the bus tomorrow, there are more ruins there but it is on the beach so everything there is more expensive.
This afternoon I had a bit of buyers remorse. I was going to buy a T shirt at Chichen Itza this morning but I didn't cos I have a long way to go. I have been looking at some sweet shorts at a shop down the road so I went to buy some. They didn't have my size. Since my shoes have blown out and my $2 Coles thongs don't look like they will go much further ( they don't make anything like they used to) I lashed out on a new pair or thongs for 29 pesos.divide by 17.6 and that is dollars?
Im going to add photos here and previous as soon as I can.
