dzasta travels
I should have done this before Cuba but the Internet was dodgy in Cuba.
The best country was Guatamala. The hotels were OK, they have amazing ruins, good nature, the people are friendly and the chicken busses are fun and convenient.
The worst country. None they were all good in their own way.
Best hotel. Hotel Ajau in Guatamala city. For price quality, location and great staff it was great.
Best place I have been. Caye Caulker It was layed back, not too expensive and great snorkelling.
And Copan, the ruins, zip lining and the birds was great.
Things I have loved doing. Snorkel with the Sharks, Caye Caulker. Whale watching Contadora. Tikal. Boat from Tortugero to Moin. Zip line. Turtles at Tortugero.
Worst things, most of the "wildlife tours"
Weather? I have been soo lucky with the weather, it is rainy season and I can only think of a couple of times the rain impacted on me. Some places here measure their rain in meters not mil so it could have been a lot worse.
Money? The money has taken a bit to get used to. Just when I get used to one I go to another country. The first 2 months were cheap, nearly as cheap as south east Asia? The last month has cost about the same as the first two. Costa Rica and Panama are quite expensive. Cuba, not part of Central America is on another level again.
Accomodation. The first 2 months I think I payed and average of about $20/night? Always my own room and bathroom. Some were higher and some lower ($8 in Managua) but averaged at about $20. The last month the average went up to about $30' or maybe a little more. Partly cos I was looking at better places after doing the hard yards early.
It has been a great 3 months and after this trip I would really love to come back and see some of the Caribbean islands. Maybe in a couple of years I will get back here.
