Well I finally made it here. The first flight was pretty good, the only thing that happened was some woman ended up on the floor with and oxygen mask on. I've never seen that before
The 5 hour layover was a bit too long after flying all night with no sleep.
I couldn't work out why they were trying to board us early for the flight to Ethiopia? They did check weigh the hand luggage and made some people check their bags. Then we got sent down stairs and shuffled into a bus. It was a 20min ride around the airport to the plane. I suppose they don't want the stinky Ethiopians in their airport? We went up the back stair and again I was in the very last row. Apparently 11 people didn't make the flight so they were going to the seats and ask the persons mane. It seems I was about the only person in the right seat. They had a hell of a job tracking down the people and getting the luggage off for the ones that didn't show, so we were and hour late for takeoff. Again on this flight a woman ended up lying on the floor with a face mask and oxygen bottle. Weird! I have never seen it before and now on both flights.
The Muslims on this flight were mostly pretty rude. Especially the women in black veils they just demanded stuff and pushed to get off. What ever you think of Bole airport in Ethiopia is pretty much right. It is probably the most budget airport I have been in. I also changed some money and the local money is the dirtiest currency I have ever had to handle. The visa cost me more than I was expecting but the taxi was cheaper so they evened out.
I am at Wutma hotel in the Piazza district of pretty much down town. The toilet in my room doesn't flush so I got them down to $8/ night and I will hassle them to fix it tomorrow. Lucky the old lady was here still cleaning so I gave her $5 and she cleaned my room again. I have the cleanest room in the building.
I went for a walk to get my bearings, and I don't want to go to bed too early. The footpath is a collection of potholes joined by puddles, cos it is raining today. If it wasn't raining they would just be a collection of pot holes.
I will be here for a few days I gotta try to get Egypt visa tomorrow and Sudan the day after then head south on Wednesday.
Today I was supposed to get some visas and really get organised. The cheap hotel room I am in is pretty average. There is a bar downstairs and the music is loud till all hours. I tried to move but the one around the corner is not much better and 3 times the price. I tried to get Egyptian visa but it takes 3 days and need photo copies and bank transfer so it is tooo hard. I will not get into Sudan and now will have to fly to Egypt. I will have to sit and look closely at my itinery to decide when I am going to do that.
I spent the arvo trying to get out of here tomorrow. The two first class bus company's are not going south or are full so I will have to go to the bus station at 5 in the morning and try to get a ticket with the locals. I don't like Addis Ababa, it is just a big dirty city. I have had 7 scammers try it on today.

Aprille Eewwww hope they fix the toilet. Can you take pic of the room. Glad you got to first stop ok.
Nagere Did the bus at Dubai airport have windows that you could not see out of? Ours did - I wandered what they were hiding. They drove us all over the tarmac and we got the back seat on our second flight too. No excitement with oxygen masks. 5 hours in that airport is about 41/2 too long.
Daz Who needs a toilet? You can poo in the street like the locals
