This is a s*** website but I am stuck with it for this trip. I will type this one again.
I braved the subway this morning. It was pretty easy til I got to Giza. Then I got picked up by a scammer. I have had every scam know tried on me and I got done twice today. You know you going to get done you just have to limit it. So the scammer lives in Sharm and is visiting his sister in the area. I'm OK to use him till I get to the ticket office then I will dump him. He showed me the way, I would have struggled by myself. We end up at a horse hire where I get offered a very good price on three options of tours. The cheapest was US$25, including entry ticket. At the main entry ticket and horse ride will cost me about $10. I declined all tours and had to get bus back to entry. Cost me about 12cents.
There are no signs up that I could see and a copper said to go down here and turn right. I did that and after a while it didn't look right so I asked a young girl. She gave me directions back past the copper. Then I realised he meant his OTHER right. What a dickhead?
I finally got in and the scammers were coming thick and fast. Horse ride, camel ride, buggy, all at best price till I said no then the price came down. I eventually took a camel to panorama, and he was supposed to bring me back. Half way there the driver stopped and tried to put up the price so I told him to shove it and let me off. Finally we agreed but he wanted to get on as well. Double dinking on a camel is no fun. I lost my stirrups so it was hard to hold on and rubbing up and down on him with the camel walking was more than a little kinky. I walked from panorama.
It is not till you go there that you realise it is not just 3 stacks of rock on a sand dune. There are heaps of buildings up there and it would have been like a small city. There is also a cemetry for athe over 200,000 that died building the pyramids. There are some smaller ones for the queens as well.
When I finished I felt like an old man after walking around in the sand and building rubble. You would think after 4000 years they could have done something about the building rubble? I could have agreed to 50pound to the station but everyone says get meter taxi, so I did. After a while I asked why we going the long way and he says traffic heavy. A bit further I got out my iPad and showed him google maps, where we are and where we should be. He said he don't understand? Eventually we get to the station and it is 70pound so I paid and he knew I wasn't happy but he still asked for tip. I told him to fuk off. On the train I was panicking because we were going through stations I had not gone through this morning. I was about to get off and we pulled into Giza station. The taxi driver took me about 5 metro stations away.
