What a boat trip to get here? Four hours on the boat, all through canals and rivers. We didn't have to go out into the Caribean at all. (That is why it is hard to get to Parismina) It was one of the best boat trips I have ever had. We saw soo much. I saw way more than I saw on the canoe tour I took a couple of days ago and it was cheaper. The driver had no problem stopping and turning around so we all could see. There was heaps of birds, crocs, dolphins and a couple of sloths. Instead of mucking around at Tortuguero I should have just done the trip up here and back a couple of times!
I stayed at Cabinas Smith last night and the place is a bit smelly, there are roaches running around, and the dog next door started at 5am this morning. I used the early start to look fore something better and I think I found it just around the corner. Cabinas Palmer is where I am going to be for the next couple of days.
This morning I went snorkelling. They have a lot of rules and regulations, the major one being I can't go alone I have to have a guide. I have been spoilt, Beleze and Nicaragua were both way better. Having said that it was still fun and I think I might go again in a few days. We went to 2 different reefs. The first was for everyone to try it out and a few who don't swim had trouble. The second reef everyone did well. The first reef had quite a few small colourful fish. The second had lots more bigger fish. I saw a Baracuda as big as my leg, I couldn't keep up with it. In a cave I saw a Norwest blowie and when I went up close he puffed up, I shat myself and got out of there. The guide tried to tell us the reason the reef is dead is because they had an earthquake in 1991, I suggested it was more to do with the sediment. Visibility wasn't great but I still enjoyed it. The guide talked us into walking back from the lunch stop at the point. He said we would see monkeys, sloths and other animals. I laughed at him and bet him he couldn't see any animal along that trail. We did walk back and saw nothing but it was still a pleasant walk.
Today I did a massive walk around the park. I managed to see some animals and did another videos for Noah but it is hard to see the monkey. I think I might go snorkelling again tomorrow.
I did go snorkelling again today. The weather was a bit overcast and a big tropical storm rolled in just after we finished. The swell was up ans visibility was not as good as the other, day. I still saw plenty of fish ans nearly caught a lobster. I let him go cos we in a national park but captain said I could have kept him.
On the walk back I saw lots of sloths. Now that I know what I am looking for I see them everywhere. There was on at, the boat this morn and about six on the walk back.
It is a wet and rainy old day today, I'm on the bus down to Puerto Viejo for my last stop in Costa Rica.
