I got through the airport by 11 so changed my mind. there was an old lady doing deals at the airport. If I had kept going i would have been at train stations at midnite and 3 in the morning and train stations are notoriously dodgy so I did a deal with the old lady for a room for the night for 200R. The airport was empty. I was surprised. We seemed to be the last flight for the night and all the shops were closing. Anyway the old lady did the deal for 200 and she supply the taxi to get there. The taxi went through the roughest neighborhood and I thought for a while I was gonna get rolled. We ended up at an OK looking place and the rooms were spotlessly clean. I got my own bathroom that was also spotless. only thing is the place doubles as a brothel. You can buy NEW jocks and socks at the reception desk. It was a bit noisy at first but I was so tired I slept well and didnt hear too much.
In the morning i negotiated with the receptionist to get a taxi to the train station. we agreed on 50r and I was expecting 120 - 150. the driver took me about 1/2km up the road and jumped over the fence to flag a taxi on the freeway. He didnt charge me at all for this and the cab only cost 70R. The cabbie was the usual for up here and just weave in and out of traffic. The road rules are just a suggestion. The train station is the same as most here and there is not much written in english. The LP says window 3 is bi lingual so I headed there. These ******* dont que for anything. They just push and shove to the front. They were pushing at windows 5 to 20 but there were only 2 people at 3. I lined up, thinking there was gonna be something wrong, but when it was my turn i got the ticket I was after. For 29R I got a seat on the next bullet train to Shanghai. Thats about $5 for a 1hr train tri;p. Easy as. Next thing a boonger of a train pulled up. Woops I got the slow train. Is that better value? $5 for a 3 hour ride or $12 for just over 1hour???
