dzasta travels
I arrived here about 1pm and the hostel is full so I am in a dorm. Shanghai is the most modern city in China. It is still a working port so some big ships come through here. The city is on the Hangpo river. The south used to be swamp but now it is the new part with all the glass high rise. The north is the old part that has been cleaned up and it getting trendy with eateries and cool bars. I walked along the Bund , a walkway alongside the river, and got some pics. I will go back again tonight and get some with the lights on.
I have been down and got some pics with the lights on. The place was packed!!!!
It has been a long night. The ****** in the bunk above me came in at about 1am and kept opening the door and parading around in his jocks. There were heaps of people around and all making noise. I had a killer headache. I got up at am and went to the Kadi (7/11), the Allday (7/11) and the servo lookin for Panadol. No luck, but I could buy as much beer and wine as I liked at the servo. I found a 24 hour chemist but I couldnt find the bell. Back home to try to sleep. 4.30 am I still couldnt sleep so went for another walk. This time I found the bell and woke up the chemist. He came to the window in his jammies and didnt speak a word of english. I eventually made him understand and he gave me a box with chinese writing all over it. I dont know what they are but 4 did the trick. Then I went for a walk on the bund again.
I am booked on the slow train to Beijing at 12.20 so will get there at about 9.30pm. It is not ideal but they said it was the only ticket they had left.
