The first day in the Himalayas and I have just had the bus ride from hell - 8 hours on a local bus - stopping every 5 mins to try and pick up passengers from here, there, and everywhere.

The trafic was choatic, the driving was erratic and the road was windy and pot-holed. But even so the heat was so stiffling that I was actually willing the wanna rally driver to go faster to actually get some breeze.

What an introduction to travelling backpacker style!!!

Gladly I will just be travelling by shanks pony for the next 3 weeks as I go up and into the Himalayas. culminating at a high pass at 5416m. If I manage to catch my breath - literally, I will take some pictures.

Civilization (or at least the version with the internet) seems to stop here so no more posts for a while.
