Yummy breakfast of masala dosa and masala chai at a little place by the station, on arrival in Chennai. Turns out it is a chain with branches all over the world including 5 places in west London.
Train ride was interesting. When we got on we sort of wished it had been cancelled and we'd got a bus!! There were various sizes of cockroaches running about and the odd rustle of mouse or rat dashing past. The loos were already smelling pretty fruity and we hadn't even started what was potentially stretching into a 17 hour ride.
By the time we pulled out of the station, two and a half hours late, I'd got more used to it. Once I'd made up my bed in the middle bunk and settled down in my nice silk, pink sleeping bag liner and my eye mask, I got a surprisingly good night's rest. We only pulled into the station an hour late at 8.30am, so a pretty short 10 hour journey in the end.
Today holds a drive through Chennai and onto Mamallapuram for two nights.

Rachel I am chuckling a little bit to myself imagining you on a filthy bus, Leah, with your eye mask and silk sleeping bag liner! Hope you're still having a wonderful time xx
Gwen I'm feeling the same as Rachel - loving the thought of pink silk sleeping bag liner & eye mask warding off roaches & rats. :) gx
