Wow fiji is hot hot hot!
We landed in Nadi and went to the Nadi Bay hotel, it was pretty quiet so we entertained ourselves witha few cocktails before going to sleep (then we found bedbugs booo!!)
Next day we were off to our first island, We were going to stay on Beachcomber island for the next two nights. It was immense. The water was about 27degrees! but of course the sun was hotter on the white sand and i soon got a lovely red tan. oops! oh well it went down after a couple of days. We spent most of our time on the island hanging around, reading, sitting in the sunshine feeling utterly relaxed and eating amzing fijian food whenever the drums were beaten for us. We even watched some fijian dances one evening. They did dances from Fiji, The Cook islands, Hawaii and Tonga. Then the fire dancers came out. Unfortunately i was sitting right at the front so the guy decided to set his hand on fire and shake mine! aaaaah!!
The next island we were to stay on is Manta Ray Island. Its a lot more remote than beachcomber and a lot bigger. It had more of a jungley feel about the place. We did a lot of the same 'nothing' that we were accustomed to doing on Beachcomber and I managed to squeeze in two dives in my hectic schedule. Awesome, so many fish. Saw some sharks and triggerfish. In the evenings they entertained us with limbo (I'm useless at limbo apparently) and then dancing the next night with some locals that came over from the Soso village on another island.
I'm dying with a cough that i picked up in Nz so I had to go to bed and missed the kava ceremony!!! gutted!!
