Surfers Paradise was very strange, it was not like Australia at all. We could have been anywhere like Benidorm or Spain, there was nothing about it that was Ozzy! I am glad we only had a 2 night stop over here. The beach was nice, but the rip was so dangerous in the sea that there are only small sections of the massive stretch of beach that you can swim with lifeguard supervision and even then you have to be really careful. There was also loads of blue bottle jelly fish as well. The beach is definitely worth seeing though - there are skyscrapers all along the sea front which is so bizarre. They also have the largest residential building in the Southern hemisphere there - it's like 340 floors or something silly. We only really wandered around the town, had a day on the beach and went on the hostel pub crawl. Pretty mental and really loud and this was just like an 18-30s thing. But we got pretty drunk and went to a few places so it was worth getting out and meeting some more people. All good. Next stop Brisbane.
