Had a delayed journey to Hervey Bay and arrived just in time for our 3pm briefing for the Fraser Island camping. Sounded pretty hardcore and loads of warnings about the dingos roaming the island etc. Had to go and buy all our food and drink for the trip and had an early night because of the early start. The next day was a bit stressed, packing all the 4x4 up and staying in our groups of 11. But we finally made it across on the ferry to Fraser Island - the biggest sand island in the world. It was certainly an interesting 3 days. Fun though and we made some cool friends. Just spent the days driving around the island in the sand and visiting the most amazing fresh water lakes. The island was pretty amazing and the weather stayed great and was sunny. Nights were interesting having to set up our own tents and cook over a bbq stove type thing. But it was good because all the groups stayed together and we were along the beach away from the campsites so we could drink and be noisy. It was definitely worth doing, something so different - to be camping - even though no-one washed for like 3 days but it was good. Had to leave later the next day to Airlie Beach but we stayed around the pool all day in sun and did some well needed washing etc and then caught the bus for the 12 and 1/2 hour journey.
