So we both arrived at Byron Bay safely after the mammoth 14 hour journey. Byron Bay is so nice, the surfers are cool and the town, although swamped with backpackers this time of year, is still full of locals. We didn't really do much, just spent our time on the beach and at the swimming pool at our hostel. Had a look round all the little shops scattered around town and booked all our trips and buses for the rest of the journey which was a relief and really exciting knowing all the things we have ahead of us. The weather was great and as you will see by the pictures we are progressing again with the tans. The best thing that we did, and my personal highlight of Australia was getting up at 5.00am to watch the sunrise, it was at this lighthouse which is the most easternly point in mainland Australia. It was so cool, even though it was a bit cloudy because the clouds eventually disappeared and we even saw dolphins swimming in the sea below. Amazing! And I enjoyed watching the early morning surfers along the beach on the walk back to the hostel. It was such a fantastic start to the day. Also tried out the very famous Cheeky Monkeys nightclub where there isn't a dancefloor - just the tables to dance on. Matthew even won a ticket for sea kayaking but we couldn't do it because we didn't have the time. But after this great place we are on to Surfers Paradise which should be interesting as we have heard mixed reviews about it...
