Well we left Vang Vieng and Friends to travel down to the capital Vientiane. After seeing some of Laos and it being so beautiful we were disappointed the capital was so lame. There were open sewers along the pavement so everywhere generally smelt. The roads were a nightmare as in Thailand the roads are the same as ours but in Laos they drive on the other side so crossing a road is like a suicide mission. We had a wander of the city and the temples were huge but we couldn't go in any because they looked really busy with monks! We walked along the river but it rained all afternoon when we wanted to explore the city a bit more so we ended up in an internet cafe to pass the time but then there was a power cut and I really dont think there is much to do in Vientiane when it is raining and there is no power!! But luckily it was back and we went back to our guesthouse and watched Harry Potter on HBO and played some cards while the rain passed! There are some serious amounts of beggars that approach you palm to palm, even at restaurants! But there was a Scandinivian bakery where we treated ourselves to a cake and pastry. Yum!! So after this we left Laos :( to go back to Thailand.
